When the Korean War broke out, schools were closed and Jaenam took refuge with his family in the excitement of going on a picnic. Jaenam, who was separated from his family during the evacuation, visits his grandfather's hometown and witnesses the atrocities committed by North Korean invaders, and a sprout of anger blooms in his young heart. Jaenam, who happened to collect grenades, returns to his hometown and, together with his old neighborhood miscreants, crushes the North Korean army's plot to annihilate all the village residents. The next day, Jaenam, who was waving the Taegeukgi at the advancing South Korean troops with the Incheon landing operation, saw the proud appearance of his older brother Jaeseok, a first class soldier, in the ranks.
