The hard-working accessor Bernášek lives in a sublet with the widow Novotná, who owns a newsagent and has a pretty daughter, Jiřinka. The bulletproof Bernášek devotes his free time, including Sundays, to reading service regulations. Ironically, this non-sporting type will win the public houseboat competition. Every weekend, the people of Prague flock to the water and the woods. Mrs. Novotná also likes to spend Sundays in nature, and Jiřinka goes tramping. Novotná is worried about her daughter, so one Sunday she locks her in the apartment and goes on a trip alone with her secret boyfriend. However, the enterprising Jiřinka manages, she confuses the naive Bernášek and escapes through his room...
